Located around 50km from Bordeaux, the Arcachon Basin is bounded by 85km of coastline and dunes. From the top of the Dune du Pilat, the highest dune in Europe, you can enjoy an exceptional panoramic view of the basin, the forest, the Banc d'Arguin nature reserve, the tip of Cap Ferret, the bird islands, and its cabanes tchanquées, true symbols of the region.
The basin is renowned for its oyster farming, its upmarket seaside resorts such as Arcachon and Cap Ferret, and for its exceptional natural heritage. It enjoys a high level of sunshine, with dry, hot summers and mild winters. Don't think you can only visit in summer! The colours and walks are magnificent at any time of year.
