On the east coast of Cap-Ferret, opposite the Conche du Mimbeau, this sand strip that separates the peninsula from the Arcachon Bay, it offers a breath-taking view from the windows and patio. It’s as if it’s floating on water, like a hut on stilts. But it’s the surrounding countryside that changes with the tide, depending on the weather and the time of day. The panorama is a spectacle in its own right.

A holiday home in a beautiful surrounding nature

As soon as the sun rises, while having breakfast on the patio, the sea shines under the first rays of the day. Throughout the day, you’ll be in the heart of a naturalist landscape, brought to life by the flow of the water, the birds, the fishing and tourism boats. All this preserved in a garden sheltered from view. All life from the Bay to the Dune du Pilat is open to you from this spot open to its waters and those of the Ocean which meet not too far from here. A private dock at the foot of this rental property is an opportunity to directly head off on beautiful trips along the Bay and directly access the Conche du Mimbeau at high tide. 800 metres long and 30 metres wide, it’s made up of sand dunes, salt marshes, pines and a beach. However the currents can be strong outside of the conche, so be careful. The beaches inside the Bay are better suited to children, as they are sloping and have no waves.

A large number of activities can also be practised nearby, such as canoeing and kayaking.

Discover the Cap-Ferret

Cap-Ferret is first and foremost about the beaches. The first, the Conche beach is 400 metres away. The Phare beach is 800 metres away from the rental property. This beach is considered to be one of the most beautiful on the Bay side. It’s a very family friendly beach, ideal for children to go swimming among others. A sailing club, the Cercle Nautique du Ferret, offers catamarans, traditional sailing boats, paddleboards, you can take classes or rent them for solo use. A Mickey beach club is waiting for your children from ages 3 to 12. On the agenda: trampolining, slides, games and competitions, everything they’ll need to create wonderful childhood memories and allow you to take a little time for yourself.

The Bay offers lovely walks along the coast, up to the Bélisaire pier for example. At low tide you can also access Mimbeau, opposite the holiday sea-front villa. Look for it and you will find it... On the other side, you will enjoy a panorama over the entire Bay and will be able to see the Dune du Pilat even closer than from the villa.

Take up surf !

The beaches on the Ocean side aren’t very far away either. The Dunes beach is the closest but it’s not supervised. The Horizon beach is supervised and is 2.5 kilometres away. The Ocean side beaches are large sandy beaches with waves perfect for surfing. The south west and Cap-Ferret are sought after areas for practising this intense sport. These beaches are less suitable for young children.

If you’re going to the Phare beach, we recommend climbing its 250 steps to access the panorama over the natural elements that give the Arcachon Bay its charm: Banc d’Arguin, Ile aux Oiseaux, Pointe, Dune du Pilat, etc. landmarks which help you to get the lay of the land and understand it.

Cruises around the Basin

The omnipresent sea is an opportunity for a swim on the beach but it’s also a great way to discover the region. In the immediate area, 10 minutes away by foot, you can go on a guided tour in a canoe-kayak! You’ll learn about the history of the Bay. If that’s not for you, you can go to the Bélisaire pier to take a shuttle or even a smack, one of the traditional boats that you will see anchored in front of the villa in a safe place.

Fishing villages and local markets

Also just a walk away, the fishing village of Cap-Ferret 100 metres away is the perfect opportunity for a beautiful walk for a change of scenery and to taste local oysters which also contribute to the region’s reputation.  The huts are picturesque, colourful and can be endlessly admired. Perfect for a stroll. Further north on the peninsula, the villages of Herbe or Canon are also worth a visit.

Finally, for going out in the day or the evening, Cap-Ferret has everything. The market is open every morning in peak season. Here you can also find most of the shops. Clothing, decorations, surfing, you’ll find everything you need to display the chic and relaxed style of Cap-Ferret. There are also many restaurants, from the simplest to the most refined. You could then go for a drink until late in the evening.
