Lège festival
On the last Saturday in June, the first festival of the summer takes place in Lège, providing an opportunity to spend a festive and convivial moment. Several activities are on offer: a traditional market in the morning, an introduction to traditional dances (fandango, polka, mazurka, stick dances, etc.), a tour of the village in a horse-drawn carriage, exhibitions, a large open-air restaurant serving local culinary specialities, a dance, and a grand fireworks display in the evening.
Cap-Ferret Festival
The Cap-Ferret Festival is a classical music and jazz festival held every July since 2010. It is one of the biggest cultural festivals in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
International artists perform classical music and jazz concerts at several venues on the Lège-Cap-Ferret peninsula. As well as the concerts, you can attend masterclasses and lectures, discovery workshops for adults and children, and individual lessons with educational films shown during the day.
Peninsula festival
The peninsula festival usually takes place over three days on the first weekend in August in Clouey. During this festival, a food court is enlivened by a travelling brass band, offering tapas, seafood, and crêpes. You can also take part in the pétanque competition and dance the night away. A fireworks display takes place at the end of the evening and fairground attractions with around twenty rides are open all day. The peninsula festival is a great opportunity to have fun and eat well.
Jumping des sables
The jumping des sables takes place over three days and promises a spectacular show for horse-riding enthusiasts and the public alike. It's a unique competition that brings together the best riders in France for a flagship event: the spectacular Derby, held on Plage Pereire at low tide. You'll also be able to take advantage of original events linked to the equestrian world.
But the Jumping des Sables is also a whole weekend of show-jumping competitions held at the Arcachonnais stirrup, in the heart of the forest.
Sea festivals
This two-day summer event is a blend of solemnity and conviviality, celebrating the sea and its traditions. An open-air mass with a blessing, a pinnace regatta, a nautical parade, a flea market, a giant picnic on the seafront, a flea market, concerts, a public dance, fireworks... this is the most traditional, the most moving and the most popular of the region's festivals. And of course, don't forget to wear your yellow scarf, the symbol of the town, around your neck!
Cadences Festival
The Cadence festival is a dance festival renowned for the diversity and richness of its programme: classical and contemporary dance, hip-hop, flamenco, African dance and art take place over five days on the beach and throughout the town. The event attracts well-known companies and prestigious choreographers, unveiling rare and unusual rhythms against the backdrop of the magnificent Arcachon basin and its picturesque heritage.
Oyster festival
The Arès oyster festival is a traditional festival in the Arcachon basin, usually held over 4 days. The festival has been running for 40 years and is one of the must-see events of the summer. Around a table overlooking the basin, you can enjoy a wide range of culinary specialities at lunchtime and in the evening: fish soup, mussels, oysters, squid fritters, white wine... all while listening to the banda that sets the rhythm of the festival. You can also enjoy the funfair and, at the end, a magnificent fireworks display. Every year, a dress code must be respected, and that's what makes the festival so charming!
Cabanes en fête
This is a not-to-be-missed festival that takes place every year on the first Saturday in December in Andernos-les-Bains. This unique event showcases the authenticity and art of living, for one day, in the 45 colourful oyster huts open to the public. Visitors can enjoy a warm, gourmet meal of oysters and white wine. Restaurant chefs offer original seafood recipes and artists, photographers, painters, and sculptors exhibit their art. Bandas and orchestras stroll along the quayside, not far from the pinasse regattas.
At nightfall, fireworks bring this colourful and tasty day to a close.
