Eden Cap-Ferret - Luxury villa rental in Cap-Ferret

Your holiday home invites you on a unique journey

The uniqueness of this rental villa lies in its colonial style. It invites you on a journey, like a time machine. The materials, the furniture, the decorative items are mixture of English and ethnic influences.

Inside, dark wood floors, Chesterfield sofas, furniture in mahogany or teak but also in rattan, textiles and wallpaper with plant motifs, form an elegant but exotic décor. The bay windows are protected by heavy wooden or bamboo shutters and contribute to this atmosphere.

Exotic outdoor spaces

Outside, the lush garden also contributes to the style and preserves your privacy. With palm trees, bamboo, fig trees, grasses, the garden, decorated with white rattan furniture, is also an invitation to enjoy a change of scenery. The salt water swimming pool is a nod to the nearby sea and the beaches of Cap-Ferret. The colonial style blends into this environment perfectly and sometimes blends in with the typical style of the houses in the region which includes wood, rattan and soft colours.

Cap-Ferret's history

The development of Cap-Ferret dates back to the 1860s, under the drive of Léon Lesca, a French industrialist who lived in Algeria. He’s considered to be the creator of Cap-Ferret. He then developed and made use of the forest, built a Moorish style villa and chapel which you can visit in the village of L’Herbe. He’s even the person who imported the mimosa, it originated in Australia and was brought over by the English to Europe and Africa.  Cap-Ferret already looks exotic. It was at the same time that oyster farming developed, giving a strong character to the region with the construction of its picturesque and emblematic oyster huts.  The preserved scenery of these natural areas is the main treasure.

Forests and beaches

Cap-Ferret benefits from a unique location, in contact with the Atlantic Ocean, the Arcachon Bay and the Landes de Gascogne forest. This is why there is so much natural diversity. For beaches, you can choose between the Bay and the Ocean which attract different people. On the Ocean beaches, you can surf. On the Bay side, it’s more of a reading, sand-castle with you family vibe. In all, the peninsula has 40 kilometres of beaches.

The panoramic views

But it’s not just beaches, the nature in Cap-Ferret is magical. The countless panoramas that change with the tides never cease to amaze and can be enjoyed from numerous and varied points of view. From La Pointe, from the 53m high lighthouse, from a small boat on the Arcachon Bay, there are so many ways to enjoy the region’s beauty without straying too far from the villa. The best ways of getting around are by foot, by bike and by boat of any kind. Avoid using a car. There’s even the dotto train that takes you from the the Bélisaire pier on the Bay side to the Horizon beach in 10 minutes. Admiring the Dune du Pilat from afar probably won’t be enough, you won’t be able to resist the desire to climb the highest dune in Europe and discover Cap Ferret from another angle but also the panorama of the pine forests, it’s absolutely dizzying! A boat shuttle on the Bay will take you there from the Bélisaire pier. You could stop off at Arcachon where the 19th century villas will take you back in time again, as in your rental villa.

The oyster farming villages

The oyster farming industry is also an opportunity for interesting discoveries. The oyster farming villages and their colourful cabins are an integral part of Cap-Ferret. The amateur photographers among you will love it!  Some oyster huts offer workshops to introduce you to oysters and oyster farming. The visit ends, of course, with a tasting in one of the 10 famous oyster farming villages such as Le Canon, L’Herbe, Piraillan. The closest to your Cap-Ferret holiday villa are La Douane and Le Phare, opposite Conche du Mimbeau.
