Close to the Loire River and 30 kilometre from the wine-growing village of Sancerre, the château enjoys totally privacy in 30 hectares of wooded grounds and uplifting views of the countryside.
Perfect for spending lazy days by the pool in peace. This familly property from the XIXth century used to be a a hunting lodge.
Welcome to your château! Step inside the main house, where you’ll be greeted by a spacious entrance hall dotted with period sofas. A comfortable lounge with antique furniture and a traditional fireplace beckons you to relax over afternoon tea. Just off the lounge is a study, with a TV and a book collection to while away the hours.
The kitchen has everything you need to prepare delicious meals made with locally grown produce. The spacious dining room has a welcoming feel and a table for fourteen guests. And an old-fashioned bar is ideal for pre-dinner drinks or putting the world to rights over a nightcap.
Upstairs, there are six bedrooms, five with en-suite bathrooms, all with their own distinctive style. Continue up to the second floor for a seventh dormitory-style bedroom under the eaves with four single beds.
The property has two annex buildings close to the main house.
The first annex is close to the outdoor seating area. There is a a kitchenette and a living room on the ground floor, and a double bedroom and bathroom upstairs. The living room can sleep four guests with a sofa bed and two extra beds.
The second, smaller annex houses a bedroom and bathroom.
The château is surrounded by private grounds not far from Sancerre, a beautiful medieval village with shops, restaurants and a global reputation for its prestigious wines. It is situated in the Loiret département of the Sologne region. The region is also known for its goat cheese, the famous "Crottin de Chavignol". The property is about 2 hour’s drive from Paris.

- Château de Sully-sur-Loire: this medieval castle, a Unesco World Heritage Site, has many a tale to tell. Famous historical figures who have stayed here include France’s longest-reigning king, Louis 14th, and the writer Voltaire, one of the greatest philosophers of the 17th century.
- Chambord: less than 2 hours away, this magnificent castle is a must. Perhaps the most famous of the Loire castles, it epitomizes the French Renaissance architecture and grandeur: 426 rooms and seven hectares of gardens! Louis 14th appreciated Chambord’s majestic setting and was a regular visitor here in the 17th century.
- Cheverny: built in the classical style of the 1600s, Château de Cheverny is the most magnificently furnished of all the Loire Valley castles. Journey through colours and seasons across six themed gardens, then continue your visit inside. Don’t miss the Tintin museum dedicated to the comic books created by Hergé. The Château de Moulinsart in the books was based on the Château de Cheverny!
- The Loire à Vélo cycle route: The Loire à Vélo is a 900-km cycle route that stretches from the Nevers countryside in the east to the Atlantic coast in the west. The route follows the Loire River and is designed for family-friendly riding and tourist visits. Lined with historic monuments, castles and vineyards, there are many attractions along the way. Towns worth visiting nearby include Briare, Gien, Pouilly-sur-Loire and Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire.
- Route Jacques Cœur: this 180-kilometre tourism route is named after the historic royal treasurer, Jacques Cœur. It passes through seven towns and villages around the Centre-Val-de-Loire region, with 13 monuments to see along the way.
- Sancerre (30 km): Enjoy magnificent hillside views from Sancerre, a medieval village voted one of France's Most Beautiful Villages in 2021. It may be small, but Sancerre is famous around the world for its terroir and exceptional white wine. 3,000 hectares of vineyards produce a fruity, supple wine that pairs perfectly with fish and seafood.
- Aubigny-sur-Nère (35 km): Known as the City of the Stuarts, this pretty village has a strong Scottish connection. Back in 1423, French King Charles VII granted lordship of the village to the Constable of the Scottish Army and cousin of the Scottish King during the Hundred Years' War. Many Scottish legacies remain today and are celebrated during the joyous Franco-Scottish festivals with bagpipe parades. The village produces a whisky called The Aubigny Auld Alliance in tribute to its origins.
- Bourges (80 km): Bourges is a beautiful town with timber-framed houses. It is the capital of the Berry region and best known for its medieval streets and huge cathedral. The great Gothic-style cathedral is the largest in Europe, with 37m-high vaults and well-preserved stained glass windows. Visit the city by night during Les Nuits Lumières, when light displays are projected onto the town’s monuments to tell the tale of their past.
- Paris (173 km): visit the City of Light and its world-famous monuments. Enjoy panoramic views of Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower, see world-class artworks at the Louvre Museum, and cruise along the Seine on the bateaux-mouches. Or simply bask in the Tuileries Gardens and stroll along the Champs-Élysées.
