The Château Pure Gers property has a unique character and release a very special charm resulting from a successful chemistry between several elements.
Firstly, an original location: built at the peak of a hill on the site of a former castelnau site built by one of the first crusaders of the region, this rental enjoys a dominant position. In the pool area, there is a large panorama over the beautiful Gers countryside where vineyards, meadows and crops alternate. The estate neighbours a small charming, old-fashioned village which looks like its fresh out of a collection of photographs from the turn of the last century.
The first château was built there in the 14th century. One of the walls of the current kitchen is made up of this ancient wall and the two patios of the first floor suites, which rest directly on these imposing vestiges, bear witness to the historical character of the place.
The originality and beauty of the place comes from a complete renovation, the work of enthusiasts who have made it a point of honour to respect tradition down to the smallest details and to choose high-quality materials (lime plastering, wooden beams and parquet flooring ...) so as not to spoil this place steeped in history.
High-end fittings and furnishings including, among others, air conditioning, a spa with jacuzzi and sauna, lift, a very large 20 x 4 swimming lane demonstrate, if necessary, that authenticity and comfort can live together in harmony to offer a luxury service.

Gers is a department located in the province of Gascony, a natural and cultural territory with a strong identity. It offers a large geographic diversity and a rich history not forgetting its cuisine which is itself a great reason to stay here. Holidays in Gers are about the good life, a change of scenery far from the chaos of towns and the swamped beaches of the world, here you’ll have the most relaxing of breaks.
Historic sites, picturesque villages, walks among nature, outdoor sporting activities and of course not forgetting the several visits to vineyards and local producers, so many possibilities are open to you. Welcome to Slow Tourism. Here are some ideas for activities and visits.
Take a breath of fresh air in hilly landscapes sometimes resembling Tuscany, vineyards and lacs and rivers.
Hiking, cycling, horse riding, canoeing : There’s no shortage of ways to get around and discover the region.
The tourism office proposes several trails and bike and hiking paths. Visits by bike or on foot allow you to combine the pleasure of sports and discovery. Electric bikes are a very good alternative for inexperienced people and for scaling hills which can sometimes be a little difficult.
The hiking paths are numerous and varied and offer outstanding views. The Saint-Jacques de Compostelle path crosses the region.
There are numerous canoeing clubs (Beaucaire canoes 25km away, Gauge canoes in Condom...) and offers you fresh water paths. 3, 6 or 12 kilometres, everyone can choose depending on their level and their desire, the aim being to spend some time in the heart of nature.
Gers is a land of villages and small towns, often built around a château, a lot are classified as the “Most beautiful villages in France”.
This rental château in Gascony is located in a small, typical village. You can find remnants of the château and a chapel from the 12th century and a former wine cellar.
In the area, within a radius of 5 to 30 kilometres, there is a succession of medieval villages. Here are some examples.
Montréal-du-Gers, a former bastide from the 13th century, the town was built according a plan identical to many others: a central square surrounded by stone arcades. The medieval half-timbered houses and Sainte-Marie church are the pain points of interest. Nearby, the Gallo-Roman Séviac villa, a classified Historical Building, is famous for its mosaics and its thermal baths.
Laressingle, also one of the “Most beautiful villages in France” and “Great site of the Pyrénées”. The entrance is via a stone bridge, formerly a drawbridge. It’s the smallest walled city in France. There are numerous vestiges of the past: château and keep from the 12th century, ramparts, Roman style church. A museum tracing the history of the village is open in peak season. Outside of the museum of medieval weapons is the option to handle period weapons, devices for launching stone, battering rams, etc.: a great attraction for children.
Fourcès, a new town built on the ruins of a 10th century château but with a circular plan this time. One of the “Most beautiful villages in France”. Sainte-Quitterie and Saint-Laurent churches, bridge, clock, medieval half-timbered or stone houses, château, it’s like reading a history book. Guided visits are organised during peak season. This village is very vibrant in the summer.
The Flaran Abbey, a former Cistercian Abbey was founded in 1151. Classed as a Historical Monument, it includes a Roman church, a Gothic cloister, a chapter hall, a prior apartment, the monks’ refectory, the kitchen, as well as a beautiful garden with herbs and medicinal plants. There are two permanent exhibitions, one on the Compostelle paths in Gers, the other on the history of the abbey.
Condom, a former episcopal city, for its Gothic style cathedral (Saint-Pierre cathedral), its historic centre and its Armagnac museum. Condom developed with the trade of Armagnac from the port on the river Baïse in the 18th century. Here you can find medieval houses and some from the 18th century. Finally, Gers being the land of d’Artagnan, impressive statues of the 4 Musketeers can be found in the cathedral square. Not far from Condom, in Lupiac, you can visit a museum is dedicated to d’Artagnan and the outside of the Castelmore château, his birth place.
Nérac, 35 kilometres away, is worth a detour for its Henri IV château museum, its medieval and Renaissance period houses including the Sully house, its port on the river Baïse, its Garenne royal park.
Staying in Gers without taking the time to discover its renowned cuisine would definitely be a major faux pas! Inspired by peasant cooking, it is based on the quality and freshness of local products. The region offers an excellent range of meats. Chickens, ducks, geese are available as confits, duck breast and other foie gras not forgetting the capons. We also have to mention Gascon beef with a pale colour and Noir de Bigorre pork. Among the vegetables from the vegetable garden or the harvest, the tasty Tarbais bean found in Cassoulet or Garbure, the succulent Lectoure melon, accompanied by a small glass of fresh Floc de Gascogne, and boletus mushrooms, excellent with pan-fried garlic and parsley.
Vineyards are very present in the region, the wine production is predominantly made up of white wines which are available in dry whites and sweet whites including Floc de Gascogne and Tarriquet. The reds are often powerful and full-bodied, like the AOC Madiran wine which has been in production since 2000 and Saint Mont.
Finally we can’t talk about Gers without mentioning Armagnac, the emblematic eau de vie of the region. Knowledgeable wine lovers can each find a wine cellar or vineyard adapted to their desires during walks in the area.
