Majestic Loire Valley - Luxury property for rent

Majestic Loire Valley Castle is a sumptuous 12th-century castle that cuts an imposing figure, overlooking the surrounding vineyards and countryside. The magic kicks in on arrival, as you cross the drawbridge to enter an enclosed courtyard and take in the impressive building that was once surrounded by moats and ramparts. The first thing you’ll notice is the flowered arches of a magnificent Renaissance-style gallery. This lovingly restored castle and its thirty hectares of grounds is a superb domain that bears witness to its past while offering all the modern-day comforts of a prestigious rental in the Loire Valley.

The first floor comprises spacious reception rooms.

A succession of living rooms offers both space and privacy, including a large lounge, a music room, and a TV room. The castle’s high ceilings, impressive oak beams, and grand fireplaces are pleasantly offset by the soothing Tuffeau limestone walls, warm wall hangings, and discerningly chosen furniture. The overall feel is that of welcoming sophistication and wellbeing. The large kitchen is well equipped and has a beautiful fireplace: perfect for sharing meals and special moments together.

All the rooms exude a subtle alchemy from a mix of antique and contemporary features. Period tapestries are flanked with colourful paintings and large designer lighting fixtures, adding different layers to the style throughout.

The castle is built on three levels, with the bedrooms on the two upper floors.

The rooms are spacious and each has its own feel, such as Spanish, French or bohemian chic. Traditional limestone walls and exposed timber beams combine warmth and authenticity, while contemporary furniture and fittings add a modern imprint to the historic residence. The bathrooms have been renovated with subtle, natural materials that blend perfectly with the original setting. One of the bathrooms is located in an old chapel and has a splendid ribbed ceiling.

This rental chateau includes a superb 15th-century manor house which is also listed as a historical monument. It has three beautiful bedrooms, a pleasant living room with fireplace and a beautiful contemporary kitchen, in the same style as the castle.

Outside, the castle grounds are idyllic. Spread over thirty hectares, the gardens are a treat to stroll through. Admire the French garden, Zen garden, vegetable garden, vineyards, woods and meadows, relax in the heated pool or challenge fellow guests to a tournament on the tennis court.

A well-known Loire Valley village is just a ten-minute drive away, with all services and amenities.

It was turned into a modern art museum in 2016 and is considered to house the largest conceptual art collection in the world.

- Saumur castle is another historical monument and UNESCO world heritage site. It is a stunning fairytale castle set on the hillside over on the banks of the Loire River. The wines of Loire

As you drive along the Loire Valley castle route, there are plenty of opportunities to stop off and visit the vineyards that produce the Loire Valley wines. Dating back to Roman times and encouraged during the Renaissance under François 1er, Loire wines are on a par with all the major French wines and include 68 appellations of red, white, rosé, sweet or sparkling wines such as the Crémant de Loire which is made using the same traditional method as that used in the Champagne region and produce an equally delectable result. The Ackerman house in Saumur was a pioneer in this field and welcomes visitors. The Loire wines are constantly increasing their export market share, and the United States, United Kingdom and Germany are the main importers. Anjou, Savennières, Côteaux du Layon, Quart de Chaume, Champigny, Bourgueil and Puy-Notre-Dame to name a few, are ideal for washing down local specialities such as pork rillons, andouillette de Vouvray, Macaron de Cormery or the succulent poire tapée de Rivarennes.
