This beautiful luxury property is all about contrast. It combines the romanticism of a rural farmhouse with the grandeur of a 12th-century castle. It brims with historic charm on the outside and contemporary style on the inside.
The house is set in the grounds of a privately-owned castle although it has its own entrance and is surrounded by a walled garden to ensure privacy. Guests will enjoy the beautiful mature garden which has an outdoor dining area and a hot tub – which also happens to be a great spot for star-gazing!
The interior is the last word in comfort and design – timber beams, soft hues and luxury furnishings are stylish and homely. Contemporary industrial-style windows are used inside and out to let the light in and frame scenic views of the garden, while exposed beams and an original tuffeau fireplace ensure the property retains its historic character. Live like royalty with all the creature comforts; Disney+, Deezer and up-to-the-minute appliances bring a modern edge to chateau life !
The downstairs rooms allow easy access to the garden, including one bedroom which opens straight out onto the terrace, a spacious lounge and dining room, and a sunny, fully-fitted kitchen. The property sleeps eight, with three en-suite double rooms and one twin room which is ideal for children. Throughout the house, spaces are cleverly separated by glass panels or partitions which create a feeling of openness.
Leisure facilities include a tennis court to be shared with the the main castle. This ones has a swimming pool as well which may be available for guests to use depending on the dates of their stay (to be discussed with the owners case-by-case).
Pure Loire Valley is on the doorstep of the Bourgueil region, a UNESCO world heritage site known as the Garden of Kings. If it’s quintessential France you’re looking for, then you’re in the right place as this region has more than its fair share of vineyards and castles.
Visit the local winemakers to find out more about their craft and taste the rich Bourgueil reds, admire the stunning countryside along the Loire à Vélo cycle route (over 800 km of cycle paths along the banks of the Loire river), or discover the troglodyte cave houses that are carved into the cliffs of Saumur. Dine on the simply yet hearty specialities such as fouaces, warm-baked buns filled with pork chunks or beans, freshwater fish from the Loire, and local cheeses.
The region boasts an impressive number of castles, with a style to suit all tastes. Pure Loire Valley is just a short drive away from some of the most popular. Azay le Rideau is a beautiful Renaissance castle surrounded by water in a quaint little village, while Chinon castle is a royal fortress that brings its past alive with technology. Visitors can hire a tablet that recreates 3D images of what the castle would have looked like in days gone by, which is sure to engage visitors of all ages.
Other, less high-profile castles have all the charm without the crowds. Visit Langeais castle, the abode of French King Charles VIII and Anne of Brittany, which has exquisitely furnished rooms; picnic in the grounds of Islette castle, former home of the sculptors Rodin and Camille Claudel; explore the stunning castle and gardens at Villandry; and take in Ussé castle which inspired the author of Sleeping Beauty.
This property can comfortably accommodate two families or three couples.
NB: For the 2025 season, an exclusive heated 9x3 salt-treated pool will replace the outdoor spa. For the 2024 season, the castle nearby has a pool which may be available for guests to use depending on the dates of their stay (to be discussed with the owners case-by-case). Leisure facilities include a tennis court to be shared with the the main castle.

May 2024 / One week stay: "We all had a fabulous time in Pure Loire Valley. The villa is a really beautiful renovation from what was a very old but well-built part of the main Chateau. It is however, entirely separate from the owners's equally beautiful house. With its own entrance and driveway, we were able to have a huge garden to ourselves. The large hot tub was used constantly by the children and we all enjoyed the excellent tennis court. As the owners were away, they very kindly allowed us to use the large heated swimming pool in the grounds of the chateau. The kitchen is fully equipped and the best we have ever had at a holiday rental. Bedrooms are modern and spacious, each with their own en-suite, shower and toilet. The area is very peaceful, set in open countryside and the local boulangerie has fresh bread, croissants and excellent pastries every day, just 2 miles away. Large supermarkets are within 15 minutes drive."

One week stay / July 2019 / "Built hundreds of years ago, in the ancient manner that endures with such beauty in the local countryside here, this house is very very old, but once you step inside, it is very very modern. Floors range from cool tiles to smooth wood to soft carpet, all of them a treat for your feet. The kitchen is the most modern and well equipped cooking facility we have ever visited on holiday. Every cooking implement you might want is here, and of the best quality. The plates and cutlery are simply beautiful : none of this is stuff you would leave out for strangers to use, but here it is, in plentiful numbers. There is a fireplace for a cold evening and a hot tub outside for cool weather frolicking. There is a brand-new gas barbecue that' s a treat to use not least because it' s really rather big. All of these bedrooms have en-suite facilities and they match the high standards set in the kitchen downstairs. Everything is modern and works perfectly. The beds are comfortable, feather pillows are nice. I can not end without a word about the lighting. It is everywhere the most modern, from the little lights embedded in the steps of the staircase (a nice touch) to the built-in bedside lights. There are even electric sockets placed strategically on each side of the bed so that those of us who must have their phones nearby can charge them overnight in convenience. I can find nothing about this holiday home that I would change. I didn' t want to leave and I do want to come back to this utterly divine experience. This is the best Loire Holiday House Ever!"
