Magnificently restored, "Luxury Retreat Dordogne" is spacious and luxurious, with a swimming pool. The modern feel is reflected in the choice of decor, with its pop colours and carefully selected mix of styles. In the heart of the countryside and at the gateway to the Dordogne, this estate is a haven of well-being and serenity that invites you to share moments with your beloved ones.
Head to the Dordogne for an unforgettable stay at château where luxury, historic charm and top-of-the-range facilities go hand in hand. "Luxury Retreat Dordogne" cuts a majestic figure at first sight, with its sweeping stone staircase and tall slate-peaked towers. Situated between the Charente and Dordogne rivers, the château’s 6.5 hectares of enclosed grounds offer total privacy and panoramic views.
With its exquisite French Renaissance architecture, this family-owned castle has been tastefully refurbished while preserving its original character with exposed timber beams and locally sourced stone. Tall windows flood the interior with natural light throughout, creating a welcoming and uplifting atmosphere.
The château’s interior has been curated with care, combining old Asian-inspired pieces with resolutely modern furniture that adds a contemporary pop of colour and brings the living spaces to life. And while the historic charm is present throughout, there is no compromise on comfort; the many lounges are furnished with plush sofas that invite you to settle in for enjoyable chats and together time with friends.
As well as the château itself, there are three renovated outbuildings that are perfect for large parties. The space in front of the cottages forms a courtyard where a heated pool takes centre stage. Relax in total peace and privacy against a picturesque backdrop of the château – the idyllic epitome of a luxury holiday in France!
The scenic surroundings have trees, gardens and forests as far as the eye can see. And you may even spot some deer or hares in the day and owls or foxes by night.
The majestic exterior has the wow factor on arrival. Climb the front steps to the spacious entrance hall on the ground floor, which opens onto two lounges; one for reading, the other with a bar. From here, follow the stairs down to the garden level, where you’ll find a top-of-the-range kitchen, a large living room with a working fireplace and a cosy dining room. This floor opens onto a beautiful terrace with outdoor dining and seating areas and a scenic view over to the horizon.
Back on the ground floor once again, a large stone staircase leads up to the two upper floors with bedrooms and play areas.
The first floor has a master bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe, en-suite bathroom and magnificent views. There is a spacious entertainment room with a large sofa and armchairs – ideal for watching movies or gaming. A PS5 console, games and a virtual reality headset will have teenagers in their element, while adults may find the office space and kitchenette useful.
The second and top floor boasts high ceilings and an exposed roof structure with beautiful beams. There are three further double bedrooms, two bathrooms and another relaxation area that is perfect for yoga, meditation or curling up with a good book.
Guests can connect their phone to a top-of-the-range sound system to create the perfect musical ambience.
The layout of the outbuildings gives the estate a friendly village feel that lends itself to spending time together. One of the buildings, the former stables, has been transformed into a spacious games room, with table football, a pool table, table tennis and darts, and a fitness area with yoga mats, rowing machines and weights.
The other two outbuildings are cottages and provide a total of five en-suite bedrooms, and the courtyard has been designed for whiling away days in the sun with friends, with a pool, a large, covered terrace with a dining area, a barbecue and a plancha.
With the Dordogne département to one side and the Charente département to the other, this château is perfectly placed for exploring the French countryside and the Green Périgord region on the doorstep.
It lies between the towns of Angoulême and Périgueux and is close to the picturesque village of Brantome, dubbed the Green Venice of Périgord for its winding rivers. You’ll also be well located for visiting nearby castles and prehistoric caves.
The château and the annexe buildings are available for rent from May to September for up to 20 people, or the château alone can be rented for 8-10 guests for rest of the year.

Painted walls on every street corner provide a fun and photogenic itinerary for discovering the city and its illustrious comic strip artists such as Uderzo, Goscinny and Edgar P Jacobs, author of Blake and Mortimer. Situated just 30km from the château, Angoulême also has a strong historic heritage, with its ramparts and cathedral containing a treasure trove.
- Cognac: famous for the brandy that bears its name, this town is just over an hour from the château and well worth a visit. Must-sees include the castle of King François the first, prestigious Grandes Maisons de Cognac distilleries, and the Cognac museum.
- Périgueux: capital of the White Périgord region, Périgueux is a 50 kilometres drive and has lots to see, including its historic centre with timber-framed houses. And, of course, take the time to savour a gourmet meal and sample Périgord’s specialities, starting with walnuts, foie gras and truffles.
- Bordeaux: make the most of your time in France to visit Bordeaux, wine capital of the world. Visit the Cité du Vin wine centre, housed in a building that looks like a glass being poured or take a stroll by the Garenne River. It’s a good day out (150 km from the château) and highly recommended.
Go green! The Périgord Limousin regional nature park has plenty of walks along natural and developed paths. Explore large deciduous forests (chestnut, oak and hazel) and observe the local wildlife, including birds of prey, passerine birds and deer.
- Nontron: this village in the north of the Dordogne is the perfect place to start a tour. Highlight: its famous traditional cutlery, a fine example of French craftsmanship.
- Grotte de Villars: this prehistoric cave will impress with a multitude of natural stalactite and stalagmite formations and well-preserved cave paintings. Finish your visit in the educational garden, which runs themed workshops for all the family.
