Château Heart of Burgundy is a French château to rent in the Burgundy wine region. This stately residence is set in sprawling, manicured grounds with a heated swimming pool. And if it looks like the set of a period drama, it’s due to its heritage; it used to belong to the Dukes of Burgundy. Now, it's a delightful mélange of historic chic and uncompromising comfort. Come with friends to enjoy an unforgettable stay in the heart of the French countryside with world-class food and wines at your fingertips.
Château Heart of Burgundy is a 12th-century property that has been fully refurbished to provide space, luxury and comfort. It has a large capacity that can be adapted to suit the size of your group and enjoys a scenic and secluded setting.
If you’re looking for a château to rent in France for a special occasion, then read on! Château Heart of Burgundy can sleep 15 guests. It has eight suites and a host of spacious reception rooms.
The ground floor reception rooms comprise a sunny main lounge with a piano and a fireplace, a VIP dining room for up to 30 guests, a smaller second lounge and a breakfast room for 12. The kitchen has semi-professional fixtures; what the stainless steel benches lack in warmth, they more than make up for in efficiency for group catering, making it ideal for events.
Upstairs, a second large reception room with a pool table overlooks the garden and is ideal for socialising and entertainment.
These rooms have all been designed using traditional, locally-sourced materials that epitomize the character and elegance of yesteryear. Wooden and natural stone floors, mouldings, wood panelling, vaulted ceilings and timber beams create an aura of prestige befitting of a castle lifestyle.
The château has seven en-suite bedrooms and two standard bedrooms spread over two floors and two wings.
There are three suites on the ground floor, one of which is suitable for people with reduced mobility. Upstairs, there are three more suites in the West wing, and one suite and two bedrooms with a shared bathroom in the East wing.
The reassuringly modern sleeping quarters ensure a luxury experience, with stylish headboards, contemporary flooring and sleek bathroom furniture.
Outside, an impressive nine hectares of grounds await. Sit out with a coffee on the huge 400 m² wraparound terrace, relax by the 12m-long heated pool or venture out to discover the different areas of the grounds. The sheer size means it is divided into different parts, with a canal running through it.
Stroll through the garden, orchard and vegetable patch before moving on towards the horse fields and the vineyard. There is also a restored mill and a quaint chapel on the estate.
Your holiday château in Burgundy can comfortably accommodate up to four families with children or eight couples.
Please note: as an unprotected stream runs through the grounds, we do not recommend this property for families with young children.

Burgundy is one of France's greenest regions and is popular for slow tourism. The Morvan hills range and the rolling countryside are renowned for their peaceful natural landscapes. The hills, forests and waterways are perfect for a total reset.
This is the Côte d'Or region, where nature seekers flock to from Paris and Lyon. Conservation is a priority here. The château itself does everything it can to reduce its ecological footprint: biodynamic farming, organic vineyards, renewable energy production, educational and awareness activities, and careful use of the estate's natural resources.
Staying at Château Heart of Burgundy is a return to your roots. There are outdoor active activities for all generations, such as hiking and cycling, canoeing, horse riding, and swimming in the pond or the pool. Golfers can head to the Beaune-Levernois golf course, about 10 km away. Whether you’re on the water or on land, moving or meditating, the connection with nature here will leave you refreshed and replenished.
Burgundy– named Bourgogne in French – is the second largest wine region in France, after Bordeaux.
It is famous for its 33 Grands Crus wines: Chablis, Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. The Route des Grands Crus de Bourgogne wine route stretches for 60 km between Beaune and Dijon and takes you on a journey to meet the winegrowers, learn about their expertise and taste their wine. It passes through 37 idyllic wine-producing villages.
A number of highly reputed wine estates are within easy reach of your rental chateau, including Château de Pommard and Château de Meursault. The Cité des Climats et des Vins de Bourgogne in Beaune, Mâcon or Chablis is a visitor centre created by passionate local winegrowers. The term climat is specific to Burgundy winemaking and refers to a particular plot, grape variety and know-how.
The centre runs a range of wine-related activities, including oenology courses, tastings and workshops that are open to all. Another must-see during your time here is the Hospices de Beaune, home to the world's most famous charity wine auction, held on the third Sunday in November.
Along with wines, Burgundy is also famous for its mustard. The Moutarderie de Fallot mustard factory museum is the last great family-run mustard factory in Burgundy and well worth a visit.
Make sure you taste the local dishes, too. Burgundy's specialities include the original bœuf bourguignon (which gets its name from the Bourgogne region), œufs Meurette and Burgundy snails. The Dijon International Food Fair is a major event held in November.
If history and old stones are your thing, you’re in for a treat. Bourgogne is the historic land of the Dukes of Burgundy. Visit the Palais des Ducs et des Etats de Bourgogne for everything you need to know about the region’s history and architecture. It also houses the fine arts museum, the town hall and the tourist office.
Dijon is the capital of Burgundy and has been awarded City of Art and History status. The old medieval town is pedestrianised and boasts a wealth of relics from the past, including half-timbered houses, Romanesque and Gothic churches and town houses from the 17th and 18th centuries.
Cîteaux Abbey is another emblematic site in Burgundy, around 30 km from your holiday property.
Finally, a visit to France wouldn’t be complete without taking in a castle or two. For a taste of life in the Dukes’ time, we recommend a trip to the Château de Germolles, Château de Cormatin, or the Château du Clos de Vougeot which has the added benefit of being on the wine route. Wherever you go in Burgundy, you’ll never be far from a vineyard!
