This majestic property has two separate buildings: a manor house and an annexe. The style throughout is deliciously French – subtle sophistication and uncompromising comfort.

The main building has all the hallmarks of a château, with vast, light-filled rooms and high ceilings.

The living areas are spacious and include two interconnecting lounges, a beautiful dining room and a kitchen. Domaine Terre et Mer is ideal for a group getaway of up to 20 guests all year round. Spend winter evenings around the fireplace in the lounge with a grand piano and smart TV for entertainment, and summer days by the pool.

The kitchen also has a fireplace and a beautiful Lacanche range oven that makes cooking a treat.

The dining room can seat 14 for an elegant dinner, or 20 on request. There is also a table for 8 in the kitchen for informal meals. Easy country living made chic!

Upstairs, the manor house has four large double bedrooms with spacious en-suite bathrooms. Two of these have twin beds that can be used as a double, making them suitable for a couple or children. Some of the bedrooms have all the trimmings of a château style, while others are more understated. They are all bright and inviting and have a lovely view of the gardens. The bathrooms are charmingly old-fashioned yet uplifting.

The annexe building looks onto the swimming pool and has a further four bedrooms, including one on the ground floor with its own bathroom. It has a more modest style and is pleasant and well-equipped. The major perk of these additional quarters is having independent accommodation for a family, or for young adults to enjoy their own space.

Domaine Terre et Mer lies in the countryside of Western France. The three buildings are set in a forty-hectare walled estate made up of woods and gardens. Enjoy the idyllic outdoors at home – guests of all ages will enjoy the beautiful 14x7m heated swimming pool – or venture out for country walks and bike rides.

If you’re looking for a holiday property close to nature and wide-open spaces, this is it. Explore the dunes and pine forests of the Marais breton, or Breton marshes; this preserved site straddles two French départements, Loire-Atlantique and Vendée. It's also home to an array of exceptional birdlife and flowers. There really is something for everyone here, just waiting to be discovered on foot, by bike - or even in a horse-drawn carriage!

And then there's the Atlantic coast, just 15 minutes from your rental property. Enjoy the beaches in and around Retz, head out to sea for some water sports, or walk along the Côte de Jade and around the harbour in Pornic or Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie. For a good family day out, you can also make the short crossing over to the island of Noirmoutier.

The nearest village to Domaine Terre et Mer is six kilometres down the road, where you’ll find supermarkets, restaurants, a greengrocer’s and a bakery. A market is held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The property comfortable accomodate up to four families with children or six couples. 

The maximum capacity is 20, 16 people in the four rooms and a few extra beds for children.
