Exquisite Provence - Castle rental in France

An idyllic living environment

This magnificent estate sets the scene as soon as you lay eyes on it. Built between the 14th and 18th centuries, the chateau has an ornamental façade with full-length windows and is crowned by a sculpted pediment and stone balustrade, creating an idyllic backdrop. Set amid beautifully manicured gardens, the chateau also boasts its own chapel (which can hold up to 70 people) poised above a stream that runs through the grounds. And what grounds they are – eight hectares which cater to all types of guests, whether young or old, energetic or sedate. The formal landscaped garden is a delight to stroll through and include a pond, fountain, bridge and fabulous 25-metre swimming pool. And it doesn’t stop there – there is also an orchard, farmyard animals, a playground, a squash court, gym, boules pitch and wine cellar. So, whether the order of the day is to unwind and bask in the sunshine, or to burn off energy and have fun, Exquisite Provence ticks all the boxes.

A large capacity property to let in France

This large property has capacity for up to twenty-nine people, making it ideal for groups, large family gatherings, or seminars. The chateau itself sleeps fifteen people in nine suites, with another seven suites in the guest house which can be rented separately and has capacity for fourteen people. All the spacious bedrooms are en-suite and have their own signature. The interior is an inviting combination of subtle sophistication and high-end rustic elegance, making it feel luxurious without being ostentatious. The bedrooms, mostly located on the first and second floors, are cosy and decorated with soothing hues and lovely furnishings, while the ground floor is given over to shared areas. Beautifully preserved wood-panelling gives the lounge and billiards room a homely feel, while gilded relief and chandeliers in the formal living room create a grander atmosphere. The fully-fitted kitchen is spacious and practical, with a large island and windows overlooking the garden, and leads into a dining area which can seat fifteenguests.

Of course, there are also outdoor seating and dining facilities. What could be better than spending leisurely lunchtimes and balmy evenings enjoying delicious al fresco meals made with freshly picked herbs and Mediterranean vegetables? And there’s no need to worry about over indulging – all that wining and dining can be offset by a game of tennis, a few laps in the pool or a workout in your very own private gym.

A luxury castle retnal in the heart of Provence

This luxury chateau lies in the Vaucluse, in the heart of Provence. Flanked by mountains (the Mont Ventoux and the Monts de Vaucluse) and rivers (Rhone and Durance), you’ll be spoilt for choice for things to see, do and explore. The region is reputed for its fine wines, including Châteauneuf du Pape, Beaumes-de-Venise, Vacqueyras and Gigondas. Wine tourism is well developed and the local growers will be all too happy to explain what they do and share their passion. Tasting sessions can be held at local vineyards or by an oenologist on site in the chateau’s very own wine cellar.

Historic sites to visit in south of France

The nearest large town is Orange which is famous for its UNESCO-listed Roman theatre. And if historical sites are your thing, then don’t miss the Grottes de Thouzon prehistoric caves. Avignon is also within easy reach and is definitely worth a visit. Its stunning skyline is another UNESCO site comprising the Palais des Popes with its four fortress towers and crenulated walls, and the iconic Pont St Bénézet, a 12th-century bridge which was truncated during 15th-century floods.
If it’s leisurely strolls and photogenic landscapes you’re after, then the Vaucluse and the Luberon Valley will not disappoint.

Leisure activities in the Luberon and the Alpilles

The region abounds with picturesque villages; don’t miss the colourful market and water mills at the riverside town of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, the hilltop village of Gordes, or Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in the foothills of the Alpilles whose beautiful light and poppy fields inspired Van Gogh’s masterpieces.

For something a little more energetic, head to Mont Ventoux. Hike it, bike it or, in the winter months, ski it. Its legendary summit has been conquered by the greatest racing cyclists of all time and is a regular fixture on the Tour de France or Paris-Nice race routes. It’s also lots of fun for mere mortals, with mountain biking, pony rides and trampolines on offer in the summer and sledging or skiing activities in the winter.

This property can comfortably accommodate fifteen guests in the chateau and a further fourteen guests in the guest house which can be rented separately.

Breakfast and staff are included in the price of the rental.
