Demeure Cœur de Vignes is a beautiful rental villa in the Lot region in the South of France, where low-key luxury is the order of the day. Enjoy the charm of an old farmhouse with the comfort of a bright and modern interior, all in a great sunny location. It’s the perfect choice for enjoying the great outdoors, discovering local interests and, of course, savouring the local food and wine!
If you’re looking for somewhere peaceful and scenic to switch off and indulge, but with lots to see and do nearby, then Demeure Cœur de Vignes has exactly what you need.
On the outside, the building is an idyllic old farmhouse, with warm beige stone walls and a curved tile roof. Inside, it has been beautifully renovated to a very high standard using local materials to create a bright and airy feel of simple sophistication. Exposed timber beams and original stone walls are coupled with natural tiles and wooden flooring in a display of refined rustic chic.
Genuine traditional furniture has been preserved; the dresser in the living room was a wedding present given by the families of the new weds. White walls and light wooden beams create space and height and a few select furnishings make a stylish statement without stealing the limelight.
The ground floor houses the living room, dining room and kitchen with plenty of space for preparing meals with friends to be enjoyed outside. The living spaces also includes a room with a majestic arched ceiling that connects the two parts of the building. With a home cinema, a poker table and a ping-pong table, it’s perfect for entertaining.
There are six elegant and inviting bedrooms in total, all of which have air conditioning and an en-suite bathroom.
A custom-made feature staircase adds a contemporary flourish to the authentic architecture of the living room, and leads up to the main building, where four large bedrooms are appointed on two floors. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom decorated in the same subtle yet chic style using noble materials and modern fittings.
Two further bedrooms are located in the annexe building adjoining the main house and would be perfect for teenagers dreaming of being independant or a couple and two children. The annexe is an entirely separate space and has its own living and fully fitted kitchen. It opens out onto the garden, making it convenient for preparing al fresco meals. The annexe also leads out to the swimming pool which will be a hit with children and adults of all ages.
The garden is just as delightful as the house. It covers three hectares of grounds surrounded by vineyards and has a 14-metre heated pool, sun loungers, and outdoor seating and dining facilities.
It’s an invitation to kick back, switch off and soak up the sunshine and the sweet, slow lifestyle that the South of France is known for. As the property is on a hill, you’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the rolling hills and Cahors vineyards beyond. Demeure Cœur de Vignes is the little sister of the wine estate next door and just one of the places to explore during your stay.
This property can comfortably accommodate five couples or two to three families.

This luxury villa with a private pool in the French countryside is ideal for reconnecting with nature. The Lot is an inland French department in south west France named after the river that runs through it, and is situated next to the Dordogne. The many different landscapes there make it a great place to stay; it has rivers, valleys, forests, meadows, farmlands and vineyards. The wine grown here has the appellation Cahors. The Causses du Quercy regional nature park stretches the length of the region and peaks at the north end at 783 metres at Mont Labastide du Haut-Mont. The southern part of the area is known as Quercy Blanc (white Quercy), dubbed Petite Provence due to its white stone buildings and fields of lavender and sunflowers.
Outdoor activities are plentiful. Take your pick from hiking, mountain biking, climbing, open water swimming, canoeing or kayaking and canyoning, all of which are available at all levels, from beginners to more accomplished enthusiasts. This area is part of France’s black triangle, meaning the night sky is particularly well suited for stargazing. August is the best time for meteor showers, and this is one of the best places to see the night sky.
You won’t want to miss the mediaeval towns and villages. Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, Puy-l'Evêque, Carennac, Autoire and Saint-Martin de Vers are just a few worth adding to the list, along with the castles in Boraguil or Cénevières. Cahors, other than being home to a delicious red wine, also bears the official title of being a Town of Art and History. It is the historic capital of the Quercy region with beautiful old monuments such as Valentré Bridge and St Etienne cathedral, both of which are UNESCO heritage sites. The town is also on the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage trail.
Going even further back in time, the Lot region is famed for its prehistoric caves. The Pech Merle cave is 250,000 years old and about thirty kilometres from Demeure Coeur de Vignes. Further on, in the Dordogne valley, the Padirac Chasm is the largest underground site in France. Rocamadour, which you’ll pass on the way, is worth stopping off at. This mediaeval cliff-side village was a popular pilgrimage destination and still has a reputation as a spiritual place. Keep the children happy with a trip to the monkey forest or to see the birds of prey at the Rocher des Aigles. Other picturesque places to visit in the Dordogne are Sarlat, La Roque-Gageac, the castles of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle and Beynac-et-Cazenac, and the Marqueyssac gardens. All within 80 kilometres of your holiday home.
Other than wine and beautiful scenery, south west France is renowned as a foodie capital. They take their food very seriously here, from simple hearty dishes to refined wares. Make sure you taste the local duck, foie gras, truffles, walnuts, melons and Quercy lamb, not forgetting some delicious Rocamadour goat's cheese and apple pastis (tart). The towns of Cahors and Montcuq both have beautiful markets, and the Lot de Saveurs food festival is held in Cahors at the beginning of July. And then there’s the wine. Cahors wine is full-bodied deep red wine, made from Malbec grapes and pairs beautifully with local produce. There are several châteaux and estates close to the house. A visit of the estate and a gourmet hamper with three bottles of Cahors wine is included in your stay.
