If you’re looking for an easy and relaxing seaside holiday, Bretagne Ambiance Plage is for you.
This delightful holiday home has recently been renovated to make the most of its setting just 150 metres from the beach on Brittany’s north coast. Nestled in a pine forest on the hillside, the large windows provide sweeping sea views and let in plenty of light. A combination of its perched location, blue and white décor and wooden furniture gives the house a cruise ship feel.
The ground floor open-plan living area comprises a lounge, dining room and kitchen in one big, bright space. Floor-to-ceiling picture windows provide a stunning sea view and an idyllic backdrop for leisurely meals throughout the day. Step outside onto a terrace either side or the house and continue into the garden, where a gate takes you onto the coastal path down to the beach. It’s worth noting that the path down to the beach is steep, so guests with walking difficulties may prefer to access the beach from the road instead.
The house has five bedrooms laid out over the two upper floors. On the first floor is the en-suite master bedroom and two double bedrooms that share a bathroom. Upstairs again are another two doubles and a bathroom. The rooms are white, bright and uplifting, punctuated with dashes of blue. The panoramic views take centre stage, and four of the five bedrooms have a sea view. Bedroom 5 overlooks the garden and opens out onto a terrace.
One of the best things about this property is its location in a family-friendly seaside resort. The beach, harbour, shops and restaurants are all within walking distance which makes for easy holiday living. You can also enjoy water sports at the nearby sailing club and a diving club. This holiday property in Brittany is ideal for families with teenagers. They can walk or cycle to the beach or various activities by themselves; a win-win for teens and parents alike. There is also a tennis club close by (1 km).

Bretagne Ambiance Plage is at the gateway to northern Brittany’s Emerald Coast, named after its stunning green waters. It runs along the fourty kilometres between Cap-Fréhel and Cancale which is made up of cliffs, beautiful sandy beaches, Belle Epoque seaside resorts and a smattering of islands that can be reached on foot or by boat. Enjoy leisurely days at the beach, fun times doing water sports, or head out for long walks and cultural visits in the Côtes d’Armor and Ile-et-Vilaine regions.
Your holiday rental has a lovely two kilometres sandy beach on the doorstep that’s perfect for all the family. The port and the village are at the end of the beach, making it very walkable. Nearby facilities include a yacht club that is close enough for teenagers to cycle to. Surfing is popular around here when the weather is right.
There are plenty of other beaches along the coast within less than five kilometres, including some of the most beautiful beaches in Brittany and others with the rugged coastal feel the region is known for. Don’t miss Port Hue beach in Saint-Briac, about 20km from the villa. On the way to Saint-Malo, Sillon beach is acclaimed as one of the most beautiful beaches in France, and the tenth most beautiful in Europe.
Keen walkers will love exploring the Emerald Coast on the GR34 hiking path, also known as the Custom Officers’ path or the smugglers’ trail. The long-distance coastal path snakes along an impressive 2,000 kilometres of coastline in total, from Mont-Saint-Michel to Saint-Nazaire. Good holiday hikes include some 20 kilometres stretches between Cancale and Pléneuf-Val-André, passing through Saint-Malo, Dinard, Saint-Briac, Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer, Saint-Cast-le-Guildo, and Erquy. You’ll get a great view of the beaches and breathtaking panoramas from the tip of the Le Chevet and La Garde headlands and from Cap de Fréhel and Cap d’Erquy. Fort La Latte is visible right along the bay, and is well worth a visit, as is the National Fort in Saint-Malo.
Cyclists will prefer the Vélomaritime, a 1,500 kilometres cycle path that goes from the North Sea to the English Channel, from Dunkirk to Roscoff, taking in Brittany’s Emerald Coast, Goëlo Coast and the Pink Granite Coast along the way.
You can’t visit the Emerald Coast with visiting Saint-Malo! It has a long history of seafaring and is famous for its ramparts, which date back to the 12th century and were later influenced by Vauban, an eminent name in the history of European military architecture. He also designed the National Fort. Take a guided tour to find out more. Finally, the Demeure du Corsaire is a private mansion in the old town that tells the story of Saint-Malo in the days of the privateers and great shipowners.
Another town to visit is Dinard, where the style switches to the Belle Epoque era. Dinard was propelled from a sleepy fishing village to a popular seaside resort in the mid-19th century, when it became fashionable to bathe in the sea. Much frequented by British aristocrats, English influences are still visible in the town's buildings and leisure facilities: golf, tennis, horse racing, sailing regattas and cricket are all popular pastimes. Dinard Golf course, founded in 1887, is the second oldest golf course in France. There are four seaside golf courses in the region, at Dinard, Lancieux, Saint-Cast-le-Guildo and Fréhel, all within a radius of five to twenty kilometres from the villa.
